Context & Solution

Current fertility treatments are hard on women physically, professionally, and financially

Physically: Women are subject to nearly two weeks of hormone injections, which are associated with frequent complications, side effects, and risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
Professionally: Women may have to miss work due to medical side effects.
Financially: IVF is expensive. The average woman must go through three or more IVF cycles to retrieve an appropriate amount of eggs.

While IVF has been a science success story, the fertility drug market is an outdated industry that no longer caters to the modern woman. Reproductive therapies have remained largely unimproved since inception decades ago - and the needs of women have changed drastically since then

Sources: SART; CDC.

Our vision: Making IVF and egg freezing shorter, safer, and more effective.

The current IVF process requires a woman to take hormone injections for 10 to 14 days to increase the number of mature eggs in the body prior to retrieval. She then undergoes egg retrieval, and any immature eggs are discarded.

Gameto believes that maturing eggs outside of the body could reduce the need for hormonal injections and render almost all retrieved eggs viable.

By making these processes easier and less expensive, Fertilo could lower barriers to adoption of IVF and egg freezing, protecting against future ovarian decline.
Fertilo may facilitate this by maturing and increasing the quality of eggs outside the body,  in a solution that:
Is more natural
Requires lower hormonal load
Lowers risk of complications
Has higher success rates
Reduces overall cost
