JOB SUMMARY:
Gameto, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and motivated professional to assist with the daily operations of our Accounting & Finance department, while also supporting the management and coordination of the company’s information technology environment. This individual will work closely with the VP of Finance & Accounting to close the books, produce financial reports, prepare and analyze budgets, perform stock administration, and assist in the accounts payable process. A successful Accountant combines solid analytical skills with a deep knowledge of accounting principles and demonstrates strong organizational and technical capabilities. This role will be ever-changing and will require flexibility, attention to detail, and the ability to help create efficient processes for a fast-growing company. The ideal candidate is also tech-savvy and comfortable managing basic IT operations and systems to ensure smooth day-to-day functionality.
DUTIES & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Perform various accounting functions, including but not limited to: prepare general ledger entries, maintain fixed assets and associated depreciation schedules; maintain prepaids; accruals; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals; reconcile investment and bank accounts; reconcile credit card accounts; analysis and verification of reports
- Perform the monthly and quarterly close processes
- Ensure accuracy and compliance with all accounting regulations and U.S. GAAP and developing and documenting policies and procedures
- Perform stock administration duties and assist with equity reporting.
- Support AP processes and maintain vendor records, including processing 1099s.
- Prepare ad hoc financial and management reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
- Maintain compliance documentation and organize electronic filing systems to support audits and record keeping for federal, state, and local legal compliance
- Collaborate with finance and business teams in forecasting income and expenses
- Anticipate and evaluate business needs to make sure that the financial organization and systems appropriately support the company’s growth
- Identify and implement process improvements within accounting workflows
- Support financial, insurance, state & federal, and investor audits as well as ESG assessments by compiling and preparing timely responses
- Other duties and special projects, as assigned
SKILLS & PREREQUISITES
- 3 – 7 years of related experience
- Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in accounting, finance or economics preferred
- Experience in Life Sciences industry, preferred
- Experience with all functions of accounting, preferred
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP, accounting theory, principles, and practices
- Ability to describe accounting systems and processes in written correspondence and in procedure manual format
- Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately and quickly, including computation of ratios and percentages
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with intermediate knowledge of Excel and accounting systems
- Ability to prepare statistical reports, analyze financial reports and make recommendations based on analysis and research
- Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain the highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Ability to function independently and exercise good judgment, as well as collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Ability to apply attention to detail as applied to data review and compliance
- Strong oral and written communication skills
REPORTING STRUCTURE
This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to the VP Finance & Controller, based in Texas.
