Lessening the hormonal burden of fertility treatments on women: Fertilo.
Current fertility treatments are hard on women physically, professionally, and financially
Physically: Women are subject to ~two weeks of hormonal injections, which can cause complications, side effects, and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome.
Professionally: Women often miss work and everyday activities due to frequent clinic visits and medical side effects.
Financially: IVF is expensive. The average woman must go through 3+ cycles to have a baby.
While IVF has been a science success story, the fertility drug market is an outdated industry that no longer serves the modern woman or family. With nearly half of the women in the US never reaching their maternity goals, there is a large unmet need for innovative products that prioritize women.

Engineered ovarian support cells for oocyte maturation
- Designed to make IVF and egg freezing faster, safer, easier, and more accessible.
- Uses engineered, young ovarian support cells that mature eggs in a dish by replicating the natural maturation process outside the body.
- Shortens IVF and egg freezing from 14 days to 3 days by maturing eggs in a dish.

Fertilo: Aimed at making IVF and egg freezing shorter, safer, and more effective
Maturing eggs outside the body could reduce the need for hormonal injections, improving the patient experience and safety while maintaining efficacy.
By making these processes easier and less expensive, Fertilo could lower barriers to adoption of IVF and egg freezing, unlocking more of the market and helping more families reach their reproductive goals.

Embryo Maturation Study Published in Human Reproduction

Our study published in Human Reproduction demonstrates that Fertilo significantly improves maturation and healthy embryo formation relative to commercially available IVM
This study, conducted in partnership with Spring Fertility, Extend Fertility, and Eugin Group assessed the maturation rate and embryo formation of oocytes collected from 67 participants who underwent up to three days of gonadotropin stimulation prior to egg retrieval.
Positive Pregnancy Data Published as Pre-Print

Early clinical results show that Fertilo achieved a pregnancy rate more than double that of conventional in vitro maturation (IVM).
This study also showed that Fertilo significantly improved egg maturation and euploid embryo formation and f note, patients in the Fertilo group had more embryos available for transfer, increasing their chances of success.

Fertilo in-depth
Fertilo uses ovarian support cells to mature oocytes outside of the body with the goal of improving IVF and egg freezing.

Process
Fertilo is designed to recreate an ovarian environment using young ovarian support cells (OSCs), maturing eggs through dynamic feedback during a ~1 day co-culture.
Fertilo is aimed at replicating the eggs’ natural maturation in a healthy, young body, yielding healthy, mature eggs.
Technology
Fertilo is derived from an engineered female induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSCs) line and differentiated into ovarian support cells (OSCs) that aid egg maturation.
These cell types behave like the body’s own granulosa cells, producing and responding to all key hormones.
Complete Signaling Environment
Ovaries age faster than the rest of a woman’s body. Today’s high injection paradigm attempts to boost a signaling environment that is often already impaired, requiring excessive hormone doses to yield mature eggs and causing painful and extensive side effects.
Fertilo is designed to treat the eggs directly, with the goal of efficiently yielding healthy eggs that are ready for fertilization and protecting the patient against systemic hormonal stimulation.
